Turning an Internship Opportunity Into an Employment Opportunity
18 June 2022Living a successful life is every person’s wish including the youths. Government, social organizations programs and parents’ investment, all have a common goal toward supporting youths. Much as the intention is to give the youth a hand, few of them have shown interest. It all comes back to the behaviors, attitudes, and traits limiting them Alas! Check out by yourself and see which habit(s) is poisoning you or your loved one’s bright future.
Laziness
Mental and physical laziness are bad behaviors that have steadily eaten up many youths in Uganda. Many young people nowadays cannot concentrate on meaningful things, work for long hours and never do what they are supposed to do. If you dream of having a successful life, work hard and smart.
Failure to initiate
The mentality of you can not start something on your own has eaten up our youths. If you cannot initiate, you cannot drive yourself. Successful people have the ability to start and work towards the achievement on their own. Weak brands are those who wait for instructions to initiate. Be creative, innovative and a strategic risk-taker
Time wastage
All humans have 24 hours in a day, the magic is in how different we spend our time.
With tech gadgets, internet, and social media influences, most of the youth genuinely put their time. Busy occupied with having fun, chatting with friends, downloading funny videos, reading useless messages. Set daily priorities and urgently work on things that build our future.
Dishonesty
There is an increasing number of youths who think of earning a living out of fraudulent means. Being honest builds trust and a strong brand yet dishonest locks your opportunities. Embrace the virtues of integrity to oneself and others
Poor spending
Most Ugandans get tempted to spend money on luxurious things. Youths need should learn to differentiate between needs and wants. Some do it to show off, while others are taken up by the trend thus accumulating liabilities and chances of self-regret.
Romantic relationships
Almost 80% of the suicidal cases of university students are triggered by heart-breaks and disappointment. Romantic affairs rob youths’ concentration, money, and energy resulting in half maximized potential. Of recent, leakage of nudes due to smart gadgets and social media have left some youths deeply ashamed.
Giving up
Most youth, when they start doing something and reach a tough time, they give up. Giving up has held many from maximizing their potential. If you get a temporary defeat, learn from your mistakes. Stay focused on life crucial things and God will make your dreams come true.
Failure to plan
In this era, doing anything without a plan is a predestined failure. Most youths nowadays think and execute stuff tactically but not strategically. A strategic young person will know; why, when, how and how long they do anything.
Therefore, as guardians, sitting back and watching things happening is not the solution. The mentality of “dotcom” is eating up many and hence who is held accountable? the leader, social workers, parents and everyone in a position of responsibility. Keep an eye on our youths.
