3 Ways to Rethink Your Hiring Process
20 June 2022Being Relevant In The Workplace
20 June 2022In the world of today, so many people are doing whatever it takes to pull attention from others. Given the fact that there are too many social media active users that is to say; 2.45 billion on Facebook, 1 billion on Instagram, 330 Million on Twitter, 310 Million on LinkedIn, 360 Million on Snapchat, 322 Million on Pinterest, 430 Million on Reddit. These social media platforms have triggered a sense of attention-seeking, people trying to pull influence in search for followership and viewership(visibility).
With such competitive platforms, being influential still remains something that I believe you wish to embrace. Apart from the fun bit of it, transforming lives is the core business of true influence. Of course, it calls for humane traits to transform humanity. Influence is that kind of power causing someone to believe and change without any direct or apparent effort. You can build through everyday action, hard work, networking, and reciprocity.
With dedication and focus, you can be a more influential person. Your character plays a key role in becoming influential with others. Below are characters that most influential people possess, they could be your checklist.
Giving
You could be wondering why this is appearing as one of the top characters of influential people. Most influential people in the world give and give in abundance. Well basing on the billionaire tracker, an article was produced by Hayley https://www.forbes.com/sites/hayleycuccinello/ shows how the world’s wealthiest people are billions in dollars to aid in the control and fight against Covid’19.
Well, you may say, those are already billionaires and millionaires. Irrespective of your financial status, giving remains a classical trait that always pulls not only blessing from above but also commands respect and fame. You can start giving a little chunk of what you have. It doesn’t have to be monitory, it can be services, skills, manpower, materials, or any other kind of stuff which is valuable to others in need.
Influential people have mastered this art of giving in fact, legendary British prime minister Winston Churchill once said, “We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give.” How much do you give? Is it enough to make the life you would wish for?
Guidance
When it comes to grooming, mentoring and coaching, most influential people have developed this mastery very well. Being of influence to others, you need to show them a clear direction for them to avoid mistakes that can possibly hinder them from achieving their goals. Think of any influential personality, be it in spiritual, economical, or philanthropy works. They all seem to be crafted for changing others to do their best. Jesus is still one of the most followed and respected personalities for close to 20 centuries. If you critically examine what he was concentrating on, is only to give clear guidance to his followers.
I believe you would love to stay relevant in people’s lives for so long? Yes! The trick for you is to be available to guide and counsel every single person in your reach. It costs time, mental, and dedication to always read faster, gather experiences and implement what you say before you pass onto others. Find time to nurture great successors in life and you will realize it is the best investment you can do.
Gratitude
My favorite statement is that ‘Greatness comes from Gratitude.’ How thankful you be in life determines a lot about how progressive you can go. This is because grateful people value the opportunities around them. This drives them to fully maximize them. Are you thankful enough for everything around you?
Let me bring this home, having co-facilitated training with Success Africa trainers and coaches, I have come across so many complaints in different corporate agencies one-thing. Most of the staff-members feel their leaders DO NOT Appreciate them the way they deserve. If you master the art of complimenting others, thanking them for input and recognizing their output. Then you will improve how you relate with them.
For the five years, I have tirelessly worked in the field of Human capital consultancy, appreciating others not only raise their motivation but also fuels the leader’s likability. Are you maximizing the opportunities within and around you? Do you know that the people around you can move your brand so fast you appreciated them genuinely? When was the last time you complimented that receptionist or cleaner in your reach?
Humility
Being humble isn’t easy. It comes at a great cost. A cost of forgiveness, of letting go, of accepting to be low and lose some arguments. Pope Francis is regarded to be one of the most humble Pope ever. This is not only when he refused a Lamborghini car. He further demonstrates humility in how he deals with PWDs, unprivileged people, and children. Pope Francis’ humility is astonishing, in fact, I remember when he came to Uganda in November 2015. He refused to stay in an executive hotel and instead stayed at the Catholic church premises. Who does that! I wondered. Yes, such kind of humility leaves little and great, rich and poor, nobles and unprivileged jaws dropped.
Are you humble enough that even the little ones wonder why you get extremely down? Humility is also a component of greatness for James Jesus’ apostle said, “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor.” So practice humility and honor shall be your daily place.
Compassionate
Zahara Pit an Ethiopian girl, the now eldest Jolie-Pitt daughter was officially adopted in 2005 when she was just 6 months old. She was adopted by Angela Jolie one of the top famous ladies in Holly Wood. This act of compassion has given someone like Zahara light in her life and hope towards those who share her story. Being compassionate doesn’t require a lot of monies. Believe me or not, with my little earnings, I have sponsored some little ones in school fees, basics and others.
What acts of kindness are you doing? Do you know that a UGX 10,000 can change someone’s story of the day? Acts of compassion attract blessings, wealth, and a sense of happiness of which you are really looking for in a day to day life.
According to the power of now, better start now practicing traits that will lift your spirits up. The best influence you can ever have is that which is authentically transforming people’s lives for the better. Yes, you can unleash the goodness within you.
